Maison Mihara Yasuhiro

Maison Mihara Yasuhiro is the Tokyo label of designer Mihara Yasuhiro, running since the late nineties. It is best known for its sneakers: canvas and leather uppers in familiar low-top shapes, set on soles that look melted, folded or pressed out of shape. The distortion is deliberate — each sole is modelled by hand first, then produced from that form.

The result reads wrong at first glance and right at the second. Up close the construction is conventional and solid: vulcanised rubber, stitched panels, roomy toe boxes. The shoes wear in like any canvas sneaker and the sole keeps its shape.

We stock the Hank, the line’s low canvas model, in black. Sizing runs close to standard EU; if you sit between sizes, take the larger one.
